“Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.”

I chose this quote because it applies directly to my life. In essence, I consider it my mantra. Each time I read it, I remember all the events in my past that have led me to where I am now. In life, we are not without struggle. We are not without vulnerabilities, hopes, and dreams. At times, it may seem as if we will never be able to reach our goals due to the obstacles in our way. And when we can become aware of those vulnerabilities, we gain our strength and make headway toward our goals.

My expertise is supporting you through this arena of vulnerabilities. I am capable of asking you the right questions so that you gain insight into the things that are seemingly holding you back. I can teach you skills to learn to cope with the immense emotions that arise while in a state of vulnerability. I can support you as you learn how to identify your goals and values. I can do this because of my degree, and because I have lived it.

As a clinical psychologist, I take a biopsychosocial-cultural-spiritual approach to therapy. This approach means I look at all aspects of an individual and their environment to provide the most effective treatment possible. The goals of individual therapy are two-fold. The first is to provide a safe space to explore any concerns that you may have. While the second is to teach you coping skills to improve those circumstances that brought you to therapy.

I have specialized in working with individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, trauma, and binge-eating. Throughout my career, I have worked in private practice, community mental health, and most recently, with gifted individuals at a private institution. Due to this, I have a unique set of skills to bring to the therapy room.

I offer several evidence-based treatments, including Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and skills taken from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). When treating individuals who have experienced trauma, I focus on either EMDR or CPT. In addition to being licensed in Missouri, I am a member of PsyPact, which allows me to see individuals in 28 different states by telehealth. Often, people are worried about contacting a clinician for couple's therapy. They believe that it may be too late to make a change or indicate a "relationship in trouble." The truth is that couple's counseling can be a preventative measure. It can be a way to deepen a relationship. When I work with couples, I use methods to instill understanding in one another while also teaching them communication skills.

At times, a couple is experiencing a crisis. It is essential to have a clinician who has experience working with couples that arrive at therapy and feel they are in trouble. I received a post-degree certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from The School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute. My dissertation was specific to blended families and finding a way to provide education to their particular plight. More recently, I have completed Level 1 and 2 training of the Gottman Method. I also look at the couple's relationship from the lens of Systems Theory.

I genuinely look forward to helping you, and your loved one deepen your understanding of one another. Feel free to contact me for a free 15-minute consultation.
